What is a bedside cot?
A bedside crib (also known as a co-sleeper or bassinet) is a small infant crib that can be attached to your adult bed, allowing your newborn to sleep safely next to you. These cots have an end that can be lowered so that you can reach your baby easily at night to soothe and feed them. This is particularly helpful for mothers recovering from a csection. Many of them are foldable or portable so you can use them for trips and as an interim solution for babies who aren't ready to move into a full-sized crib.

If you're looking for a more long-term option, some cribs have conversion kits that allow you to transform them into a cot or a toddler bed at the time of need. This is a great way to extend their life and making the transition more seamless. Some have a removable section at the top that can be transformed into an infant bed. Some can be used in conjunction with a regular adult bed or a high-rise model. This is a great option for families that plan on frequently traveling or switching between bedrooms throughout the night. Take into consideration the size of your bedroom to ensure that you fit comfortably in the crib. A lot of cribs have risers which can be used to create an incline for babies who have reflux.

She was pleased the fact that it didn't roll like some other models, which meant it wasn't waking her at night while she was trying to comfort her baby for feeds. The Maxi-Cosi lora
The Iora is a bassinet for infants designed to make parents feel more connected to their baby as they sleep. It adjusts upwards and downwards and moves through three slide positions to be placed next to the parent's bed, or in the corner of the room, so that baby is always within arm's reach. The breathable mesh siding allows air to flow through, and allows you to glance at your child. You can also store any extra pajamas or items in the large storage basket beneath.
Unlike some other smaller bedside cribs Iora is a standout among other bedside cribs. Iora folds flat and comes with a bag for travel to allow it to be carried anywhere. Our mom testers were able to move it from room to room, and believed it was a great size for a bedside cot, not too big or too small. The large storage basket is ideal to store extra bedding or nappies.
This is an excellent choice for parents who want to sleep in a co-sleeping arrangement but don't wish to share their beds or whose partners may be suffering from mobility issues, such as arthritis or back pain. Our mom testers loved that they could easily access their baby in the Iora and that it came with an option to have a reflux incline which helped alleviate gas.
Our moms appreciate that the mattress follows NICE guidelines. They recommend placing the infant in the Moses basket or crib on its own without blankets, toys or pillows. The mattress is also a good firm and comfortable for the baby and sheets are readily available. It's not as light as the other cribs that are smaller, though and if you're looking for something lighter and easier to move around, look at alternatives on our list.
